Accessible European films are watched individually before meetings and then a member leads a discussion on the film's themes. After a recent Ingmar Bergman season, we've been discussing German films of the 1970s and 80s as a follow up to our study of the French New Wave.
In 2025 we moved on to another Italian season, this time covering the years from 1960 to the 80s: a period where a political dimension to films was prevalent. We began with the 1962 film Il Sorpasso, directed by Dino Risi, and since then have discussed films directed by Luchino Visconti and Vittorio de Sica, finishing the year with Antonioni's Trilogy of Decadence.
Download our booklet to read more about how we work, and to see a list of all the films we've watched in the last five years.
