Theatre Visits

Status:Active, open to new members
Organiser:
Pat Lowe
Group email: Theatre Visits group
When: We arrange a theatre visit usually every two months
Venue: Various

We plan to have visits once every two months, organised by different members of the group.

We hope to try a variety of performing arts productions, some local, including relays of performances to cinemas,  and others further afield including London.  Most performances will be matinées.

We currently have 30 members - if you are interested in joining us, please get in touch.

Our last visit was to see ‘MJ the Musical’. I wasn’t quite sure what to expect but it was quite spectacular - the energy, the sets, the iconic costumes and the choreography were impressive. Jamaal Fields-Green was excellent as Michael Jackson; he really captured  the mannerisms, the voice and certainly the dance steps. The show avoided the issues of child abuse and Jackson’s increasingly erratic behaviour by ending in 1992; but as a story of his early struggles and his development into a phenomenal showman, it was a very lively and enjoyable show. Thanks to Avril Moss for organising the outing.

We had an excellent visit to The Importance of Being Ernest at the Noel Coward Theatre. It was a slightly unusual performance (with Stephen Fry as Lady Bracknell) and great fun! We adjourned to the Crypt at St Martins in the Field to discuss it afterwards. Thanks to Patrick and Doreen Pascall who organised this outing and got very good seats at the group discount.
