Circle dancing is a mixture of contemporary and traditional folk dances using a wide variety of music from all around the world: often lively, sometimes gentle and more meditative. No partner is needed, and the dances are taught first. Our group of dancers is very friendly and supportive, and we are always pleased to welcome new members. Learning new dances is good for the memory and co-ordination and the light to moderate exercise helps to keep us fit.
Traditional dances celebrate the seasons, work life, love and loss and can perhaps give us a glimpse of life in countries and cultures that are different from our own.
There is no expectation that we will be perfect dancers – we often say in the circle dancing world there are no wrong steps, just variations.
We will be delighted to meet you if you want to come along and see if circle dancing is for you.
